The NEN
The NEN is made up of 10 Regional Broadband Consortia in England and the three national schools' networks of Wales (NGfL Cymru), Scotland (Glow) and Northern Ireland (C2Kni). The schools education network of Ireland also attends NEN meetings along representatives of JANET, BECTA and the DCFS . The 'regional' and national broadband initiatives were established in 1999 to provide quality broadband services through aggregated procurement and shared knowledge and to enable secure communication, effective use of digital learning opportunities and content delivery between schools.
In 2003 they interconnected their regional networks through the Super-JANET service to create a broadband National Education Network.
